Ellsworth
wins 29th Super Eliminator

– Dennis Ellsworth, Jr. won his third consecutive race and the 29th
Super Eliminator title with his Wonder Brothers dragster. Dennis ran an 8.51 elapsed time at 152 mph to
capture the major title and the Wally trophy.
Ellsworth beat Dale Waddell’s 1927 Ford roadster in
the final round. Brad Schiewe’s 1974
Mustang II and Brad Seher’s 1971 Triumph Spitfire were the semifinalists.
John Antongiovanni took the Pro bracket championship
win his 1965 Chevy II by defeating Scott Tucker’s 1968 Barracuda. Antongiovanni ran a right 12.47 at 105 mph to
pull off the win. Ray Rapp was third in
his 1971 Vega.
Troy Beck won the event title in Quick Street for
the second straight year with his 1969 GTO.
Beck ran 12.26 at 94 mph to best Troy Folkenberg’s 1972 Pinto while Nick
Purcell took third place in his 1975 Torino.
Dave Smith was the top driver in the Street class in
his 2003 Nissan Murano. He ran a time of
16.74 at 82 mph to claim the victory over Vernon Rossig’s 1967 Camaro. Brian Stone’s 1967 Firebird and Jim
Brodersen’s 1997 Ford F150 were the semifinalists.
Tyler Hutton captured the Junior Dragster title with
a 9.04 elapsed time. Tim Ellsworth
finished second while Kara Pettit and Adam Smith were the third place
racers. Robbie Waddell won the
Consolation bracket with a time of 11.05 with Malli Blasdell finishing second.
The Gamblers bracket was won by Dan Simmons in his
1964 Chevy pickup. His 11.93 at 110 mph
defeated the 1970 Dodge pickup of Arron Daniels. John Terry’s 1991 Taurus and Scott Anderson’s
dragster were the semifinal losers.
